Our mission
At Pinterest, our mission is to help you discover and do what you love. That means showing you ideas that are relevant, interesting and personal to you, and making sure you don’t see anything that’s inappropriate or spammy.
These are guidelines for what we do and don’t allow on Pinterest. If you come across a Pin that seems to break these rules, you can report it to us.
Safety
Our team works hard to keep divisive, disturbing or unsafe content off Pinterest. Some types of content we delete, other stuff we just hide from public areas.

Most artistic, scientific or educational nudity is okay on Pinterest. We may hide this and other explicit content from public places so people don’t run into it accidentally. Paintings, statues and other real world art, and content that shows breastfeeding or mastectomies are always okay.
We always remove images of explicit sexual activity or fetishes, and nude or partially nude people in sexually suggestive poses.

We remove content that physically or sexually exploits people. We work with law enforcement to address the sexualization of minors. More

We don’t allow anything that promotes sexual services, like escorts, prostitution or sensual massages.
We’re particularly sensitive about exploitation and explicit content involving minors. If we find it, we’ll report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. We also remove nude photographs of anyone who appears to be a minor (except infants).

It’s okay to save historic and newsworthy Pins or stuff that raises awareness for current events. We may hide this content from public places so people don’t run into it accidentally.

Hate speech includes serious attacks on people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition. Also, please don't target people based on their age, weight, immigration or veteran status.

We don’t allow anything that presents a real risk of harm to people or property. We also don’t want anyone making threats, organizing violence or encouraging others to be violent.
Any person or group that’s dedicated to causing harm to others isn’t welcome on Pinterest. That includes terrorist organizations and gangs. We collaborate with industry, government and security experts to help us identify these groups.

We remove attacks on private people or sharing of personally identifiable information. More

We remove anything that identifies and attacks private people because we consider it to be bullying. We also don’t allow anything that reveals someone’s personally identifiable information or asks a minor for it.
If you come across a Pin with an unwanted photo of you or your personally identifiable info, you should ask the Pinner to remove it. If that doesn’t work, you can report it to us. Our team will take a look and let you know if we remove it.

We remove content used to sell or buy regulated goods, like drugs, alcohol, tobacco, firearms and other hazardous materials. More

Regulated goods are products that can cause harm to the owner or people around them when used incorrectly. Many countries have rules and regulations that apply to these types of products.
To keep you and our community safe, we don’t allow the private selling or buying of regulated goods like drugs, alcohol, tobacco and guns. If this sort of activity is reported to us, we’ll remove the content and may suspend the account owner.

We remove accounts that impersonate any person or organization. More

We don’t allow accounts that impersonate or misrepresent their affiliation with any person or organization. If you have a fan or commentary account for a public figure or brand, make it clear that you aren’t affiliated with them.
Intellectual property and other rights
To respect the rights of people on and off Pinterest, please:
Don’t infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
Don’t do anything or post any content that violates laws or regulations.
Don’t use Pinterest’s name, logo or trademark in a way that confuses people (check out our brand guidelines for more details).
Site security and access
To keep Pinterest secure, we ask that you please:
Don’t access, use or tamper with our systems or our technical providers’ systems.
Don’t break or circumvent our security measures or test the vulnerability of our systems or networks.
Don’t use any undocumented or unsupported method to access, search, scrape, download or change any part of Pinterest.
Don’t try to reverse engineer our software.
Don’t try to interfere with people on Pinterest or our hosts or networks, like sending a virus, overloading, spamming or mail-bombing.
Don’t collect or store personally identifiable information from Pinterest or people on Pinterest without permission.
Don’t share your password, let anyone access your account or do anything that might put your account at risk.
Don’t sell your username or transfer it for compensation.
Spam
Nobody likes spam or other disruptive content. Which is why we remove accounts for stuff like:
Unsolicited commercial messages.
Attempts to artificially boost views and other metrics.
Repetitive or unwanted posts.
Off-domain redirects, cloaking or other ways of obscuring where a Pin leads.
Misleading content.
Contests and paid content
Ideas on Pinterest are collected by real people who are genuinely excited to try them. To keep inauthentic content off Pinterest:

For example, a business can’t pay people for each board they follow or Pin they save. It’s okay for a business to pay a guest blogger to curate a board for their brand, but they can’t pay large groups of people to save specific Pins to artificially inflate the popularity of their content.
Do feel free to use affiliate links as long as you’re not spammy. Keep in mind, we only support certain third-party analytics right now.
If you run a contest:
Don't require people to save a specific image. Give people the ability to choose Pins based on their tastes and preferences, even if it's from a selection or a given website.
Don't allow more than one entry per person.
Don't suggest that Pinterest sponsors or endorses you or the promotion.
Do review our brand guidelines for general rules about using the Pinterest brand.
Lastly, be sure to follow all relevant laws and regulations.
