	Referral Terms and Conditions

Etsy members may receive credits to be used on (the “Site”) by participating in one of Etsy’s referral programs. In order to receive credits, you must be a member of Etsy and meet the requirements of one of the referral programs detailed below. You may only send referral invitations to friends or individuals who consent to receiving this type of message. You must comply with any applicable local laws.

As an Etsy member, you can receive credits toward purchases on the Site (“Referral Credits”) through Etsy’s Buyer Referral Program. To participate, sign in to your Etsy account and follow the directions on the Buyer Referral page ( to invite friends who have not previously made a purchase from Etsy (“First-Time Buyers”) to visit and make purchases on the Site. Valid invitations may only be sent through the emailing feature on the Buyer Referral page or by sharing a unique link generated on the Buyer Referral page.

First-Time Buyers who receive a valid invitation may receive a credit (“First-Purchase Credit”) from Etsy upon clicking a link to accept the invitation and registering as an Etsy member or signing in to an existing Etsy account. First-Time Buyers may apply the First-Purchase Credit toward a purchase on the Site using Etsy’s Direct Checkout service (a “Qualifying Purchase”). A Qualifying Purchase may not be made from the First-Time Buyer’s own Etsy shop or for a gift card, and may be subject to a minimum purchase requirement, which does not include tax, shipping or discounts. First-Purchase Credits may expire.

For every two Qualifying Purchases made by First-Time Buyers who accepted your invitations, Etsy may add a Referral Credit to your Etsy account within a commercially reasonable amount of time. You may be limited to receiving a maximum number of Referral Credits.

As an Etsy seller, you can receive credits toward listing items on the Site (“Listing Credits”) through Etsy’s Seller Referral Program. To participate, sign in to your Etsy account and follow the directions on the Seller Referral page ( to invite friends who have not previously registered to sell on the Site (“First-Time Sellers”) to become Etsy sellers. Valid invitations must include a unique link generated on the Seller Referral page.

Both you and a First-Time Seller who receives a valid invitation from you will receive Listing Credits from Etsy after the First-Time Seller clicks the unique link from your invitation, opens an Etsy shop and lists an item for sale for the first time.

Listing Credits may only be applied toward fees for listing new items or renewing previously listed items for sale on the Site. Listing Credits may not be applied toward a purchase on the Site or any previously accrued fees due to Etsy. Should you or the First-Time Seller use Listing Credits to list items that are prohibited by Etsy to be sold on the Site, the items shall be subject to removal by Etsy at its sole discretion and the redeemed Listing Credits shall not be reinstated. Listing Credits do not expire, but they will be voided within an Etsy account in the event of that account’s closure for any reason.

Any and all credits from Etsy, including Referral Credits, First-Purchase Credits and Listing Credits, are not transferable and may not be sold or exchanged for cash. If you or your friends do not comply with the terms and conditions herein, or do not follow the directions on the referral pages or valid invitations, you may not receive the applicable credits, and Etsy will not be liable for any such non-compliance. Invitations may expire.

Participation in the referral programs may be limited to Etsy members located in certain countries or using certain currencies, and is void where prohibited by law. Etsy reserves the right to modify or terminate the referral programs at any time.

Etsy reserves the right to cancel or rescind credits if it determines in its sole discretion that any party has violated these terms and conditions or Etsy’s Terms of Use, including through any fraudulent or misleading referral activity (for example, by using multiple identities, email addresses or Etsy accounts, otherwise providing false or misleading information, or conducting any kind of funny business) or if the party’s Etsy account is closed for any reason.
